Pharmacokinetics is the study of what the body does to a drug, tracking its movement into, through, and out of the system. The Four Stages (ADME) Absorption: How the medicine gets into your bloodstream after you swallow it, inject it, or rub it on your skin. Distribution: How the medicine travels through your blood to reach the target part of your body where it needs to work. Metabolism: How your body (mostly your liver) breaks down and changes the chemical structure of the drug so it can be handled. Excretion: How your body flushes the waste out, mostly through urine (via the kidneys) or feces.
